About

Spoken word devotees across the UK and Europe have come to know Kai Larasi as SoloMan the Wizard. It’s a fitting moniker for a seasoned performer who constantly captivates audiences with spellbinding wordplay, potent poetics and staff-carrying charisma.

A respected FLO Poet and regular performer at the seminal spoken word event FLO Vortex, SoloMan has long ignited stages across London: mixing it up at Chocolate Poetry Club, mental health mecca Mind Over Matter, as well as POETclopedia (where he earned the title “The Poet’s Dictionary Defining Artist”). He has performed in Venice and in Scotland, at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe.  In 2021, SoloMan not only took part in the prestigious BBC Word’s First Showcase but also made his theatrical debut, performing with his collective at the Sadler’s Wells Open Art Surgery put on by the Breakin’ Convention.

The Wizard of Many Names has been published in ‘Words By’, an anthology put together by UNICEF to raise money for the Children's Emergency Fund; had his booming baritone put to good use as a voice over artist and had his presence requested at the Tower of London, where he was commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces to ‘stir spirits’ and bring hidden histories to life for live and digital audiences.

SoloMan always imbues his art with powerful messages, purposeful narratives and a desire to spread love. Blessed with wisdom that belies his years, he has developed a knack for spinning words into worlds and scribing verses that traverse time. You’d do well to make the time to attend a show and witness a wizard at work.
